About Ex-Cell Kaiser LLC
A Woman Owned Business Enterprise, operated by Janet Kaiser, Ex-Cell was established in 1933 by her grandfather, Joe Goldberg. Ex-Cell has long been a leading manufacturer of quality metal products for the Janitorial/Sanitary, Hotel/Motel and Hospitality markets. Original products included cigarette sand and wall urns, small waste receptacles, dust pans and table top ashtrays. Joe Goldberg was an inventor, manufacturer and distributor of various products that served the Motion Picture Industry from Carbon Arc Lamps and projectors to vending machines and other theater supplies. In the 1930’s Joe started Ex-Cell on Chicago’s Movie Row area on Wabash Avenue near Roosevelt Road. It was there that he starting manufacturing “Sand Urns” and Cigarette “Smoking Stands” for lobbies of Motion Picture Theater’s owned and operated by Balaban and Katz (B&K Theaters) and others.
Morton Goldberg, Joe’s son, later joined his Father in the 1940’s, after his military service during WWll, expanding into manufacturing different styles of waste receptacles, dust pans and coat racks, selling to Brunswick Bowling Alleys and distributors such as McMaster-Carr and the then GSA (General Services Administration) the buying arm of the United States Military and military bases worldwide.
Through the continuing efforts of Ken Goldberg, Mort’s son, Ex-Cell further expanded into new Janitorial, Food Service, Hospitality and Industrial Markets worldwide. Ken saw that as the needs of the marketplace changed, so should the product mix, with a broader range of metal products for Health Care, Parks & Recreation, Safety Supply, Exhibition & Rental and Office Product markets.
Ken Goldberg’s innovative work in product concepts, design and development has expanded the product line to include large waste receptacles, bellman’s carts, garment racks, luggage racks, restaurant smallwares and custom manufacturing.
Our vision is to grow aggressively through innovation and product development, while continuing the longstanding tradition of providing quality products (made in Illinois) to facilities worldwide. We are committed to the improvement of commercial, industrial and municipal facilities in the United States and internationally.
With over 200 products, Ex-Cell offers its distributor partners and customers the opportunity to save purchasing dollars by consolidating their buying.
